The Ellis County Sheriff's Department is a law enforcement agency that is based in Ellis County, Kansas. The department was founded in 1867 and is headquartered in Hays. The current head deputy of the department is Ed Harbin.
Specialized Crime Units[]
The ECSD has two crime units, the drug enforcement unit and the high technology unit.
Those who work for the drug unit are responsible for investigating his or her drug case, usually without the assistance of other officers. The DEU is also responsible for investigating illegal drug activity within the county. The HTU (high technology unit) is responsible for illegal internet activity, such as online action fraud, stalking, identity, theft, and others.
